Failure to progress? Or failure to wait!

Believe it or not, women are being told in labour they are ‘failing to progress’!
Failing?!
All this means is that women‘s bodies are taking time to rest and be thankful during this amazing process.
And who says we need to put a time cap on how long each stage of labour takes, as long as mum is happy, safe and comfortable then why rush her. The delicate balance of birth hormones can be disrupted by this clumsy use of language - pressure to birth your baby produces cortisol (the stress hormone) which inhibits oxytocin (THE BIRTH HORMONE)
Did you know? There is no correlation between dilation and length of labour! None!
